Last Saturday night, I was fortunate enough to find free parking along the northern side of State Street. I was relieved that at least half of this street’s coveted parking spaces, that have been missing for the past few months, were opened up once again.
The brick pavers on the intersection looked very nice and it was reassuring to see some beauty coming out of the $2.26 million being invested in this project. At that rate, I will think long and hard before installing a 2-block patio in my backyard. According to the city government, State Street should be finished by October of this year.
On the way back to my car, I couldn’t resist using a stack of bricks as a makeshift tripod and snapping this photo.

Around the corner, the South Street garage is actively under construction as noted by the crane atop the skyline during my commute eastward. This project, according to the Harrisburg Parking Authority, will be completed in July, 2007. Photos of the construction in progress are posted on their site.

For those that frequent floor9, you will know that I have since moved away from HBG and I am living in the Philly area now, so I don’t get to see all of these projects progressing first hand. I think the State St. project is a good idea (making me one of the few it seems LOL) and I am loving the unobstructed view to/from the Capitol already! Thanks so much for the pic/updates, and if you don’t mind, could you please keep them coming as things progress, as I would love to see how it all ends up (my trips to HBG are very infrequent so it will be a while before I will be able to see it all for myself)? Thanks so much!
