Holidays in Midtown

Midtown’s Home for The Holidays and Tree Stand is now officially open.
After four days of preparing the land, assembling the hardware and erecting a twelve foot Blue Spruce on the foreground of the property; the bonfire is cooking, the hot chocolate is flowing and we’re officially open for business.

Goodbye Angelina’s

On Thanksgiving Day, the Patriot News reported that Angelina’s and Catalano’s Italian Restaurant will close at the end of the year. New Year’s Eve will be the last business day for both restaurants. Catalano’s opened in 1977 and has been an icon along the Wormleysburg riverfront ever since.

Harrisburg will be getting a new hotel in late 2008.
City council approved the design for the proposed Aloft hotel for 2nd and State Streets.

A web site for WCI Partners was just published. It includes detailed images of their planned hotel and it’s impact on the visibility of the Capitol view.

It was reported today that the zoning board of Harrisburg approved the plan for the 168-foot tall hotel planned for the corner of 2nd and State St.
It was also officially announced that the brand would be Aloft Hotels from Starwood. The hotel will also be home to a new restaurant and bar.
