On Thanksgiving Day, the Patriot News reported that Angelina’s and Catalano’s Italian Restaurant will close at the end of the year. New Year’s Eve will be the last business day for both restaurants. Catalano’s opened in 1977 and has been an icon along the Wormleysburg riverfront ever since.

Angelina's and Calalano's Restaurant will close the first day of 2007.The Carter family, who owns Duke’s Riverside a few blocks north, will purchase both Angelina’s and Catalano’s for a reported $2 million.

HarrisburgNightlife has learned that plans are underway to convert Angelina’s into a brick oven pizza restaurant and Catalano’s will become a steakhouse in 2007.

The Catalano family is disappointed about the sale. They blame the success of Restaurant Row and the popularity of chain restaurants in the area for the decline in sales the last several years.

We wish the Catalano family the best and look forward to having one last drink there before the new year.

Wow, yet another pizza place and another steak house! Who would’ve thought that the HBG area could handle all of these places that are…exactly…the…same…

It’s a real shame to see HBG losing its character and being swallowed up by the cookie-cutter crap it has now become. Oh well, I expect nothing less in the “Red zone”, and what I now call “The Sunblet of PA”.

I agree, best of luck to the Catalno family and thanks for the memories!
