What may be the end of a failed experiment, it sounds as if restaurant Jackie Blue may be going through some changes in the near future. Rumors are floating that it may be for sale. The liquor license application in the window is usually an indication of an impending ownership change.

This week’s scheduled debut of Suburban Transit featuring members of Slamo and Quagmire Swim Team has been moved to the Brewhouse Grille in Camp Hill as a result of the changes at Jackie Blue. The show starts at 10pm on Friday, March 2. Other upcoming gigs featuring DJ Ill Cosby, Chester Attic, and Dominic Cicco are TBD.

Additional speculation is the new name could be “The Blue Bistro” and may have somewhat of an “alternative edge”.

From what I understand, Jackie Blue had a good thing going. People who went enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Others said it was some of the best cuisine on 2nd street. It was certainly something different, but I think the high caliber of the food along with the higher prices may have kept people away. It’s always a shame to see good restaurants close in Harrisburg, but everyone knew with the rapid expansion of eateries some would survive and others would not. Bye Jackie.

Other off the street rumblings include The Quarter which may be transferring ownership as early as this week. I don’t go there too often but from what I hear it could use a lot of improvement on the food and service end of things. With a great building and location, let’s hope the new owners can turn things around.

Sue recently reported that Chars Bella Mundo is up for sale in order for the restaurant to facilitate a move into the planned Tracy Mansion along Front St. in Midtown.

Still no word on the fate of Fisaga which filed for Chapter 11 back in September.

I like Jackie Blue, but it is just a little too pricey for me for all but the specialest of occiasions. A shame, seeing as it is so near my house.

It would be a shame to lose Jackie’s. It’s one of only two restaurants within walking distance of my house, and every time (except one) that I went there we had a great meal. It has a great atmosphere and a good bar (and bartender) too.

It’s a little on the pricey side, but not ridiculously so. Early on it was a bit more experimental with its menu, and it did seem to have gotten a bit more “normal” over the past six months or so.

The sad truth is that most restaurants fail. I’ve been in Midtown for 18 months and I think that building at 2nd & Harris has been three different restaurants. If Jackie’s truly is closing, then best of luck to those guys and I hope they open something else for us to check out.

And what the heck is a bistro with an “alternative edge”?

:(

I didn’t think Jackie blue was anymore expensive than most of the other restaurants downtown. And the food was way better. Oh well, maybe Bayou Cafe will get a liquor license…

Okay, it’s definite. Jackie Blue’s is becoming something else entirely. The synopsis I got was something along the lines of 13 different fondues…so I guess that “alternative bistro” means fondue?

Pooh.

A *fondue* restaurant!!?! That will be…interesting.

I assume this means it will be under different ownership?

Something to say?
