Last Friday, the Patriot reported that Harrisburg City’s license from the PLCB to enforce the sound levels from downtown bars and restaurants expired this month. This means that until the city renews, there will be no more music heard over al-fresco dining areas and open air venues such as Fisaga and Tom Sawyer Diner will have to keep the volume down.

The outdoor stage at Tom Sawer will be a little quieter through the rest of the season. The April Skies who were scheduled to play the outdoor stage at the diner twice in September have labeled their shows as “acoustic”. It was unclear if they were originally scheduled to play a full on amplified set, but it seems the PCLB rules of “near silence” will stand through the rest of the summer season.

According to the article, City Council has yet to make a decision to renew their license with the PLCB. Also at risk could be Ceolta’s Guinness Oyster Festival scheduled for September 15. The festival features live music on an outdoor stage on 2nd Street as well as a Guinness beer truck to serve patrons outside. More than likely, this kind of event would be covered under a temporary permit.

I’m fairly certain that all Tom Sawyer shows were “acoustic” this season.

I was there last year to see Luv Gods and Steve had to play crappy electronic drums. Just killed the vibe overall. Why have a rock band if you can’t have a band ROCK??? Ponderous. I stay away from d-town h-burg, especially at night on the weekends anyways.

Something to say?
