Philadelphia’s WXPN will be arriving in Harrisburg this weekend to raise awareness to some upcoming changes to their popular radio station. The noncommercial radio station will be expanding to new frequencies in the area. 88.1 will move to 99.7 FM on November 1. Lancaster, Lebanon and York will be able to tune in on 88.7 FM.
The weekend’s festivities include the weekly XPN Free At Noon concert with Over The Rhine, hosted by Helen Leicht at the Whitaker Center.
The Funky Friday Dance Party with host David Dye, will also be at the Whitaker. Dye, who also hosts the nationally syndicated World Café, spins soul and funk classics during his live broadcast from 5-7pm.
Check out XPN.org for registration information. Pre-registration is required for some events. Other events will be taking place in surrounding cities.
On Saturday, Dye will be available to sign copies of his new book “The Best of World Cafe,” 11am at the Midtown Scholar bookstore located at 1519 North Third Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102.

This is interesting. The last time I paid any attention to these sorts of things, non-commercial radio stations were limited to frequencies at or below 91.9.
